A 'me' night

I've been in Ohio for 5 days. Today was the conference. It was fine. Then, tonight, I got ready...dressed, in my blue shirt and jeans, and trying to look cute...left for dinner at what I thought was Dave and Buster's. Come to find out, it wasn't. It was supposed to be this place called Gameworks which is right downtown on the river where the Reds Stadium is...and there was a game tonight. By the time I realized where I was going, realized there was zero parking because all the lots said "lot full"...I then turned around, headed back toward Kentucky, pulled into an outback, and had a peaceful dinner by myself. My phone then died, so I had no contact with any human being for 45 minutes other than my super nice waitress. It was wonderful. I enjoy being around people, really...but...I needed my downtime. I realized it when I was leaving downtown and felt like crying because I have been super out going all week lon gwith my happy cheerful, friendly face on. And I just wanted to come back to my Hampton Inn and eat my take-out cheesecake. (It was delicious. I didn't finish it all).
I can't wait to get back to North Carolina tomorrow. I have a 7am flight, and then heading to mom's, then to try on bridesmaids dresses for Shae, and then to run errands and somehow get everything done I need to in like 6 hours.
I need a vacation.

Fish on Land

I was telling my friend Kristi the other day that we sordof feel like Fish on Land. Out of place, awkward, and not sure what we are supposed to do to survive. Our lives have been a whirlwind since...well...awhile. We left the church Adam was on staff with Easter Sunday. Since then, we have been praying and asking God what and where we are supposed to do next. Move to Charlotte, move to Wilmington, move to somewhere a church hires us. Do we look for church positions or look for secular jobs...do we look for student ministry jobs or another type of ministry? Do we sell or rent our house? What are we supposed to do? The answer to these questions are not yet decided. We have had some contacts for jobs but nothing has come through yet. We think we might want to move to Wilmington if we can find something. I think I offend people

Truth: I think I offend people. Some people just get on my nerves. While I realize this is not a "godly woman" kind of comment...sometimes that is how I react to people. I get annoyed when people speak condescendingly to me. I get annoyed when others question my word. I get annoyed when people lie. I get annoyed when people try to tell what they are learning from the Lord to others as though that is what THEY should be learning at that exact same season of life. These things...ugh. I get annoyed when people who have kids talk to people who don't have kids like they are stupid or ignorant. Same goes with married people and single people. I cannot be the only person that struggles with this. And I try really hard to filter what I say...so usually I'm only thinking that I'm annoyed but occasionally it pops right out of my mouth before I have time to catch it.
