Whirlwinds and such

I feel like I haven't read a blog or gotten on here in forever. I have been adjusting to a new job! I am now working at a church here in town as an Administrative Assistant for an Outreach Center. It is great and I think I'm going to love it. The hours are great and the pay is great and well, it's just great. Changes like that always take some adjusting to. It's nice to feel like a productive member of society again. I don't know who I was kidding when I thought selling Mary Kay would bring in the type of money that a real job does. It doesn't, and it definitely doesn't have all the perks that come along with it. I never understood Multi Level Marketing companies like that and always said I would never do one, and now I'll still say, I shouldn't have done it. It took away valuable time with Adam and caused a lot of stress in my life. It took away money that I would have paid off debt with, and some of that I'll never get back. Now, we are making ...

Mother's Day 2011

Image
Greg on the other boat, I think he was posing for my picture :)   This Mother's Day we went down to visit my parents who now live at the beach. (I heard once that the wealthier you are, you either call it the beach, the coast, or the shore) Based on my earlier post, I think we will just call it the beach :) Adam and I on the "Wendy D" (my mom's name) Greg caught these, and they tasted yummy! Adam grilling out some burgers  We also went down to "The Day At The Docks" festival. I can't wait for the one coming in the fall (even though it is the one that prevented us from getting married down there!) called "Festival By The Sea". This is the picture I took to enter into the 96.9 flip flop photo contest to win Kenny Chesney tickets. But then I forgot to enter it. Oh well, it's a fun photo. What a fun weekend with family!

On the Coast of Carolina

Image
We went out on the waterway and the Lockwood Folly with some friends before we left Wilmington. Here are a few pictures from that day. More to come! :) A day at the beach.  Provision Company.  Some kayaks on the canal. Lots of seagulls.  The pretty marsh on the river.  The pretty sunset.  We sure do love the coast of Carolina!

2009 Coastal Living Idea Home - CoastalLiving.com Shared via AddThis Among my most recent list of things to do, this is now officially on it and happening. I'm not sure when or with whom, but I'm going. Anyone want to go with me let me know :) This is like my favorite town ever and my favorite magazine ever, combined. It's like a dream come true!

Seas and Trees...

Image
This past weekend I was in Hilton Head, SC for my good friend Teran's bachelorette weekend. It was an adventurous, fun filled weekend with lots of sun, sand, laughs and nature. I was amazed by God's beauty all around me. We went for runs, walked on the beach looking for sand dollars and other creatures, and went on bike rides. We also went out to dinner, listened to live music and sang some ridiculous karaoke. All in all, a marvelous time! This picture is from Harbour Town in Sea Pines Resort where Ashley works. We went there the last night for dinner. This sailboat was making its way into the marina. We found two starfish on day 1, then on day 2 we went on a starfish hunt and found this one, we were so excited! This is the first whole, not living sand dollar I've ever found. I'd feel guilty taking a live one :) This was also at Harbour Town. This pelican was sitting on the dock. The sky was so beautiful. I could watch sunsets at the beach every day and still be in awe...

Calabash...oh how I love you so.

I was raised to love the water. Any water really. The lake, beach, rivers, creeks....anything that was water that God made...I loved it. I have wanted to swim, ski, tube, do handstands, be on a boat, or stand on a pier since I was born. My grandparents had a place at Badin Lake (aka amazing place) when I was growing up. I learned to fish, clean fish!, swim, ski, tube, and drive a boat there...It was amazing. When I was in 8th or 9th grade, they sold it. Sad...and then bought a place in Calabash, NC. My dad moved there, doctors told him he needed to get out of Charlotte, and he started working at the Sunset Beach Pier. In winter of 01, Dad switched over and started working at the Ocean Isle Pier. Then in 2002, I lost my dad. My grandparents have kept the place in Calabash. Now they are wanting to sell....to me. Except...the economy sucks right now! I'm trying to save enough for the downpayment so I won't have any problems...but man, am I having problems! Banks don't want to ...

Fun weekend with friends!

This was one of the best weekends of the year! We had a group of 8 go down to Calabash, NC and Sunset beach for the weekend. We played cards, ate seafood at Sharky's and the Boundary House, played lots of Bocce Ball, threw the football some, and played in the ocean. Had ice cream at the Calabash creamery and the guys even rode cows. Yes. They did :) Scott's face is priceless. What a group! I love these people :) That's me far left throwing the football with the guys. The ladies...suck in everyone! Before a little shopping in Calabash. At the Boundary House... gotta say, their Baked Pesto Salmon hit the spot! Two of my favorite people...they'll make ya laugh for sure. Eating ice cream, this was fun for me to take haha. The whole crew at Cracker Barrel as we headed out of town, because Brad Saab says they have the best roast beef!

Beach hopping with Shae

Image
The beach. This is at the Little River Inlet. We drove to Calabash, where my dad's house is. He lived there for 9 years and worked at the Sunset Beach pier. Think Jimmy Buffet as a Christian. That was my pops. Shae and I went to the beach at Sunset and then went to Dockside for dinner. It's one of my favorite restaurants. At the dock they have shrimp boats and you can walk around. There were some guys cleaning fish too. I love the local life. On the way from Calabash to Topsail to visit with Shae's family, we stopped at Walmart to pick up some sunscreen. I require a higher spf than miss Shae. Sear's Landing at Topsail. Shae and I always go here. They have great hushpuppies for sure. We sat out back for a while and talked to a guy that grew up on the island. The whole Beacham fam was there. So much fun. Looking forward to many more beach trips this summer! Side note: while I was there, my aunt's mother passed away from ALS. It's a horrible disease and to learn...
