Sour Cream
I have several topics I want to post about. One is this: Why do Mexican restaurants charge extra for sour cream? I can't seem to understand this philosophy. Any Mexican, the authentic, or Moe's or Qdoba, or whatever. They all charge extra. I can get as many jalapenos, olives, tomatoes, cheese etc. But if I ask for some of the white stuff, they charge me 50 cents. What if next time I go in and say "I don't want any of the other stuff on my taco, just sour cream" do you think they will charge me for it? Obviously they are saving money on the other ingredients.
Next is this: Last night I had two missed calls. I went to the park with my mom's best friend to walk for a while and I got to my car I had two missed calls. Kristi and Casey had both called within a few minutes of each other. This meant something was wrong. I just had a feeling, a sick feeling in my gut. I called Kristi back and she said that Colin (The Fishes son - Rebecca and DJ, two of my good friends) had been diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis yesterday. They were supposed to go on the beach trip with us last weekend, on my last post, and couldn't because Colin had gotten sick. They were in the hospital with him all weekend and then went back in for a check up with a different doctor, and he said he wanted to test for CF just incase, so they could rule it out. But it came back positive. This changes his life, their lives. From now on they'll have to watch him, disinfect, wipe off door knobs, use antibacterial stuff, just to make sure he can breathe. He most likely won't have kids and won't live past 40. And he's less than a year old. In one day their whole world changed. I pray that CF will find new cures and remedies to lengthen his lifespan and quality of life. Please pray with me.
Next: Attitude makes all the difference. I have noticed recently how much attitude can change a life. Getting perspective on things and keeping a positive attitude really helps. It makes you look at the good in life instead of the bad. There's a lot of bad in this world, alot of pain, hurt, disease, and sorrow. Alot of sin. But if all I focus on is negative, I'm not getting anywhere. What are you gonna do about it? What is God asking me to do today? From the tiniest of things to the big ones. I can make a difference if I love and act like Jesus.
Next: I get to see some old friends this weekend. I'm going to Raleigh to visit and hang out and Taylor is coming into town and I'm just really pumped about seeing everyone. They are having a prayer vigil for Colin on Friday night, and I'm sad I'm missing it, but I'm going over there tonight to visit and I live here, so I'll be able to do more over the next week/month/year. I only see Tay once or twice a year and so...there's my reasoning.
I'm really going to post my Alaska pictures soon. Like, next week. Promise.
