Project Dad

Most of you know that my Dad passed away 9 ish years ago in April of 2002. Saddest day of my life thank you very much. This year I have been on 'Project Dad' trying to collect and save some of the things that remind me of him and can be passed down when we have kiddos. My dad sang and taught people about Jesus a lot. We have him recorded singing the national anthem at a Charlotte Hornets game on VHS. We have tapes of him singing in churches and giving his testimony. I'm very thankful for my cousin Steph and my aunt Carol and uncle Mark for all their help after Dad passed to put those things together. Now, we're in the process of converting them all to current technology, DVDs and CDs etc. This past weekend after a wedding we visited my grandparents (Dad's parents). They are just awesome and fun to be around so we like spending as much time with them as we can. Their names are Ruby and Jewell and they've been married 66? years this November. My grandmother handed...

While I'm Waiting - John Waller

I saw this video on a friend's facebook page today. The words are fitting of our season of life. This is my prayer. John Waller - While I'm Waiting (Official Music Video) from Provident Label Group on Vimeo . I'm waiting I'm waiting on You, Lord And I am hopeful I'm waiting on You, Lord Though it is painful But patiently, I will wait I will move ahead, bold and confident Takeing every step in obedience While I'm waiting I will serve You While I'm waiting I will worship While I'm waiting I will not faint I'll be running the race Even while I wait I'm waiting I'm waiting on You, Lord And I am peaceful I'm waiting on You, Lord Though it's not easy But faithfully, I will wait Yes, I will wait I will serve You while I'm waiting I will worship while I'm waiting I will serve You while I'm waiting I will worship while I'm waiting I will serve you while I'm waiting I will worship while I...

My Jesus - Todd Agnew

Which Jesus do you follow? Which Jesus do you serve? If Ephesians says to imitate Christ Then why do you look so much like the world? Cause my Jesus, bled and died He spent His time with thieves and liars He loved the poor and accosted the arrogant So which one do you want to be? Blessed are the poor in spirit Or do we pray to be blessed with the wealth of this land Blessed are they that hunger and thirst for righteousness Or do we ache for another taste of this world of shifting sand Cause my Jesus bled and died for my sins He spent His time with thieves and sluts and liars He loved the poor and accosted the rich So which one do you want to be? Who is this that you follow This picture of the American dream If Jesus was here would you walk right by on the other side Or fall down and worship at His holy feet Pretty blue eyes and curly brown hair and a clear complexion Is how you see Him as He dies for Your sins But the Word says He was battered and scarred Or...

A Little More Country Than That

If someone would write a country song about being outside I would want to be in the video. There is a new country song out called "I'm a little more country than that" by up and coming artist Easton Corbin. I know that I'm a mix between city girl and country dreamer. I like being about 45 minutes from a good mall and great restaurants, but like having some fresh air, a garden, and good people. Most people know how I like pretty scenery and when I see an open field I want to stop the car, get out, and go run through it. I love driving through the mountains, sitting on a dock at the lake for hours, or taking a long walk on a beach. I could lay on a blanket and gaze up at the stars for hours. But I also enjoy a little fast paced life sometimes too (minus rush hour and crime). Right now we live in a 'suburb' of Augusta and it's a little bit country. It's a pretty drive home and I like how I can go to a different post office and be the only one in the post ...

Thank you Darius Rucker

I love country music. Not only that but I was utterly, completely obsessed with Hootie and the Blowfish when I was in High School. I went through this brief idiotic period of time when I went to all the USC games and they would perform in the half time shows. The drummer used to play soccer there and I met him one time, can't really remember where...but thought I was the coolest person ever.  I can't tell you how many Hootie concerts I went to. Probably 20. Every time they were anywhere around North or South Carolina, I went. Sometimes they played with Edwin McCain and that was just a bonus. So, when Adam and I were talking about choosing songs for the wedding and reception, I definitely wanted Darius in there somewhere. We put him on the wedding webpage using his song "Alright". When we got to the reception the DJ came up to me and asked me about the last song because I had just emailed him several. I said, let's do "History in the Making" and he said, ...

Gettin' high

There are few things in life that give me a natural high. Among that list: The feeling going over the bridge to get to the beach...any beach, like Sunset Beach, Wrightsville Beach, Oak Island, Holden. That feeling gives me a rush. And don't even think of going over it without the windows down. The wind through my hair and the smell of exhaust from a boat on the open water. Any water. Live music. Any good music. Loud music in the car on a road trip with the windows down. Inspiring this post today - the most recent song from Keith Urban called "Only You Can Love Me This Way" and Lady Antebellum's blog. I love their blog. Every Wednesday they do a webisode and it makes me smile. I listen to their CD on my ipod all the time. www.ladyantebellum.blogspot.com The Ipod. Thank you Sam. Hiking to a Waterfall. This is among the natural high list. There's something about turning a corner and seeing a waterfall. Or a view from a mountaintop, yes. Praise the Lord. Good deep mea...

Jesus heals my soul through music some days...

Hope Now by Addison Road

Heard this song on 106.9 The Light today, it's such a great radio station. Got a lot going on in life, rough days or slow days, trials or questions... no matter our circumstances we can Hope Now in Christ. He's carried me all my life...and everything rides on hope now. When the world has broken me down, your love sets me free.

When the sand runs out

When The Sand Runs Out by Rascal Flatts I spent the morning at an old friend's grave Flowers and amazing grace he was a good man But he spent his whole life spinning his wheels Never knowing how the real thing feels He never took a chance or took the time to dance And I stood there thinking as I said goodbye Today's the first day of the rest of my life I'm gonna stop looking back start moving on And learn how to face my fears Love with all of my heart make my mark I wanna leave something here Go out on a ledge without any net That's what I'm gonna be about Yeah I wanna be running when the sand runs out Cause people do it every day promise themselves they're gonna change I've been there But I'm changing from the inside out that was then this is now I'm a new man yeah I'm a brand new man And when they carve my stone they'll write these words Here lies a man who lived life for all it was worth Listen here - http://www.imeem.com/kaswint/music/n...

GIRLS IN HOT PURSUIT! Last night we had our kick-off hometeam at Kristi's house and it was a blast! We had cherry lemon sundrop and a cookie cake of course. We talked about what book we might do for this semester and wrote out our verse for the year. We are focusing on loving people and shining in this world. Do everything without complaining or arguing, so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life— Philippians 2:14-16 We also played the Lyrics to Brandon Heath "Give me your eyes", which will be our theme song for the year. You can see the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OihvG607W-c Look down from a broken sky Traced out by the city lights My world from a mile high Best seat in the house tonight Touch down on the cold black top Hold on for the sudden stop Breathe in the familiar shock Of confusion and chaos All those peop...

All I wanna do oo oo oo oo.

Rebecca - one of my favorite friends in the world and favorite blogs to read once wrote her 'things I would like to do' list. I have been thinking about this for a while and wanting to write my own. I know this is going to be really long, even just thinking about the things I want to do right now, let alone in the future. I'm also keeping in mind that God has a plan for my life, so of course His way always wins, these are just fun things I'd like to try, or do, or accomplish in my life. 1. Post my Alaska pictures. Done 9/9/08 2. Finish my Alaska scrapbook. Done 11/2011 3. Print all my Italy pictures. Decided to do a shutterfly book - not done yet. 4. Print all the other pictures that need to be printed. Done 12/08 (This is really going to be long). 5. Go to the beach with Rebecca and Joel. 6. Get caught up on all my scrapbooks. Still working... 7. Watch "What happens in Vegas". - Done as of 8/28/08! 8. Go on a mission trip in the U.S. 9. Go o...

My new favorite loving Jesus song...

He is jealous for me loves like a hurricane, I am a tree bending beneath the waves of His wind and mercy All of a sudden I am unaware of these afflictions eclipsed by glory and I realize just how beautiful you are and how great your affections are for me Oh, how He loves us so oh, how He loves us how He loves us so He is our portion and we are His prize drawn to redemption by the grace in His eyes If grace is an ocean we're all sinkin And heaven meets earth like a sloppy wet kiss and my heart turns violently inside of my chest I don't have time to maintain these regrets when I think about the way that He loves us how He loves us so oh how He loves us how He loves us so

God woke me up at 4am.

I still haven't figured out why. I woke up singing in my head: From the Inside Out Lord my soul cries out... A thousand times I've failed Still your mercy remains And should I stumble again Still I'm caught in your grace Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control Consume me from the inside out Lord Let justice and praise become my embrace To love You from the inside out Your will above all else, my purpose remains The art of losing myself in bringing you praise Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame In my heart, in my soul, Lord I give you control Consume me from the inside out Lord Let justice and praise become my embrace To love You from the inside out Everlasting, Your light will shine when all else fades Never ending, Your glory goes beyond all fame And the cry of my heart is to bring You praise From th...

Life is a "choose your own adventure" book

Was having this conversation the other day about how life is a series of a 'choose your own' adventure books. Every day we are faced with questions and decisions. We are faced with yes or no questions, and right or wrong choices, or do this, or don't do this opportunities. Think about it...every single thing you do, you have one way to do it, or not. I can order a double cheeseburger, or a salad. I can go for a run, or not. I can get out of bed and smile, or frown. I can make efforts to put in 100 % or 98. All these are my choices. Free will. And sometimes my decisions affect others and sometimes they don't. Isn't that crazy? Life's picked up some these past couple of weeks with Nationals coming up. The phone rings alot more and my hours are heavier. Still a happy place to be working. My schedule is a little bit crazier with trying to fit things in, especially relaxing times, but it works. Just takes a little more discipline. I have friends having babies all ove...

GIHP...or, the Girls in Hot Pursuit. I wish I could fully explain the way I feel about these girls and how awesome I think they are. God moves in weird but cool ways - and my life during the past year has been a big question mark to me, as it is to most people majority of the time. We go through life and can't see to the next day so we pray and trust that God is in control; and because he knows what is in our path, we just follow him and know that it will all work out in his will as it should. And if it doesn't, we figure out how to make that happen. I've heard alot lately about the vine and the branches, Shelly wrote a song about it and it's been mentioned several times around me lately. I am grafted into him, he is in me, and because the holy spirit who lives in me, I can hear his voice and he teaches me something new every day. He keeps me in line, he reminds me when I need to 'cowgirl up'. But to explain where these girls fit in, and Charlotte South, and Ch...

If i were to write a book...

...I think I would title it... dot...dot...dot. No really. dot dot dot... Because, I think that's what life is. In a series of random or not-so-random events, it is a series of dot dot dots. :) You never really know what is going to happen next. Have you heard the phrase "if you want to make God laugh, tell Him your plans"? I wonder how many times I've tried to tell God MY plans. haha. And then they always change. dot dot dot. ... I tried to tell God I wanted to be a journalist. Yep, on the TV. I was wrong...I told God I'd never leave Raleigh, and then he moved me in a big fat circle until I got to Charlotte, where I told God I'd never move back to. Isn't it kindof humorous? I also mentioned to Him that I never wanted to move back in with my parents...so guess where I'm at? The past six or so months for me have been alot about attempting to 'surrender' my life to Christ. Although this is something I've probably mentioned to Him that I was g...

Where I got my blog title...

She's sun and rain, she's fire and ice A little crazy but it's nice And when she gets mad, you best leave her alone 'Cause she'll rage just like a river Then she'll beg you to forgive her She's every woman that I've ever known She's so New York and then L.A. And every town along the way She's every place that I've never been She's makin love on rainy nights She's a stroll through Christmas lights And she's everything I want to do again It needs no explanation 'Cause it all makes perfect sense For when it comes down to temptation She's on both sides of the fence She's anything but typical She's so unpredictable Oh but even at her worst it ain't that bad She's as real as real can be And she's every fantasy Lord she's every lover that I've ever had And she's every lover that I've never had

Wake up Laughing :)

Wake Up Laughing...it's a song by Martina McBride which I really like...and lately that's what I've been doing. Something I've always wanted to do...wake up in a 'happy smiley' mood on the way to my 'happy smiley' office. :) I love my job and I am seriously so thankful for what God has been doing in my life...it amazes me how fortunate I am. This morning I was able to give the devotion for Carmel Christian School :) It was really fun and got to meet some cool kids. This week is our retreat for work and we have gone white water rafting and out to a nice dinner to Villa Antonio and we're getting pedicures and manicures...it really has been a great time. I'm so blessed, and God is continuing to grow me and heal me, it's the coolest thing. So tomorrow, I'll wake up laughing, roll over, and open the blinds to greet another wonderful day! ;)

1:02pm

Lovin' this song... She's a yellow pair of running shoes A holey pair of jeans She looks great in cheap sunglasses She looks great in anything She's I want a piece of chocolate Take me to a movie She's I can't find a thing to wear Now and then she's moody She's a Civic without a sunroof With her blonde hair a-blowing She's a soft place to land And a good feeling knowing She's a warm conversation That I wouldn't miss for nothing She's a fighter when she's mad And she's a lover when she's loving She's a Saturday out on the town And a church girl on Sunday She's a cross around her neck And a cuss word 'cause its Monday (AMEN!) She's a bubble bath and candles Baby come and kiss me She's a one glass of wine And she's feeling kinda tipsy (yea, so) She's the giver I wish I could be And the stealer of the covers (um, ok I confess) She's a picture in my wallet Of my unborn children's mother She's the...
