Life in reverse

Adam and I have been talking about smartphones this weekend. It would be an easy way to take pictures and video of our new baby girl and share with each other (or, me share with him while he's at work) or with our parents and an easier way to upload online or to Shutterfly, which is usually who I use for prints and albums these days. But they are a little more expensive. To off set we're talking about cutting cable, and looking at what other expenses we might can cut that aren't necessary. We/I don't want life to be one big distraction. I am around people that can't carry on a conversation sometimes without checking their phone every two seconds.  I keep finding myself reading blogs about natural cleaning recipes, natural body products (see www.desiringvirture.com or www.homehealthheart.org ) and they always direct me to the way things were done "back then". Bleach is bad, face wash is bad, use oil and water to cleanse your skin...um, really? Oil is the...

Home and "Mom" organization

If you know me at all, you know how I feel about organization. I love it! Like, it makes me happy. (And yes, I said "like"). I enjoy vacuuming because it gives me a feeling of instant gratification. Everyone gets that feeling from something and for me, it's cleaning and organization. I am type A but definitely not a perfectionist. There are just some things I like neat and orderly, like underneath my bathroom cabinets for example. I love things that make life simpler and since there is no need to reinvent the wheel I thought I'd pass along these websites. Being pregnant and on bedrest for a while has given me time to catch up on blogs and find some new sites that might make life a little easier. I already have a home notebook with important information in it like wills, where documents are located, and a list of books to read some day. It also has our budgets in it and the last time we changed the air filters. I found that idea by googling home notebook. This is the w...

Blogging

I have been having a hard time lately coming up with what I want to post because I think of so many things that I'd like to post. Today, I had some free time and was reading blogs for a bit. I am considering starting my own blog to try to make money. What I can't decide is what to write about, or if I should just continue it on this one. Organizing, family life, budgeting, cooking, funny marriage stories, my lack of exercise and all my intentions to exercise? What do you like to read about the most? Or, are you the kind of person who likes to see pictures only? :)

Why is blogging so fun?

It just is. I love reading what other people are learning or doing in their families. I am really enjoying reading some blogs from some really awesome godly women that I mostly do not know. They are creative, fun, and entertaining to say the least. I enjoy writing in general, (probably should have gone into that line of work although not sure my skills are up to par) and so it gives me an outlet to express what's going on with us and our crazy lives, just chat about random things, or some days even, vent. I keep meaning to post some more recent pictures but today I am doing things like couponing, budgets, and cleaning. The not so exciting part of life, but having a lot of food in the pantry for not much money, knowing where our money goes and paying off debt, and having a clean home...those are exciting parts of life. The work pays off. Anyone have a half yearly goal? Those New Years goals are probably fading by now, what's something you're trying to accomplish this summer?...

20 Questions

There are several blog posts coming at you soon. One with how ridiculous I think it is our government has debt at all let alone the idea to raise the debt ceiling. If I said to you guys "we have 60,000 dollars debt this year but we're thinking of raising it to 70,000 just so we don't go over"....you would have me committed. Dear Lord, please let Dave Ramsey help our government. Or Ryan from Wisconsin-I like him too. Moving on... My sweet friend April tagged me in this 20 questions deal and since I think these are fun every now and then, I'm doing it! Rule #1: The tagged person must write their answers on their blog and replace any questions they dislike with a new question formulated by themselves. Rule #2: Tag 4 people to do this quiz. The tag-ee must state who tagged them. 1. What is one word that can best be used to describe you? Hodgepodge. I am somewhere in the middle of a free spirit and a nerd. I am organized, clean, and like things to make sense but I...

Today is packing day..

Ten Little Happys

Lauren recently wrote a post stating ten things that she is happy about right now. While everyone is busy making resolutions and promises, this is a way to focus on the now :) Here are ten little happys in my life right now. 1) Bedtime and my husband. I'm borrowing number 1 because truly, this is awesome. Really, anytime Adam is home is a happy time. When he comes home from lunch, when he comes home from work, and at night when we just hang out and then go to bed. It's the most comforting, wonderful feeling ever. Love it. No matter what happens during the day I know that what we have is good and right and the Lord is with us. (Sorry if this is making some of you throw up). 2) Doughnuts and coffee. Ever since I could barely say "do nah and coccee" I have loved having the white powdered sugar doughnuts for breakfast with coffee. My mom has tapes of this when I was around 2. Yes, she gave decaf coffee to a two year old. Maybe this explains a lot about me. Haha. Regar...

The blog world is fading

Going through my blog and friends blogs I am realizing that my circle of bloggers is slowing and people are blogging less frequently. That sentence used blog in different forms many times. Anywho, should I call it quits on the blog world...since it seems so many have already done so?

Check out Amanda in Uganda

Hey readers...on the blogs I follow and on my links, check out my cousin Amanda. She's spending this summer in Uganda. Her blog does a better job of explaining - so read it there :) Then she will spend the next year in Paris. Her school is Wellesly and they have a program in Paris too. Thought I'd pass along so you can keep her in your prayers and see how God's using her to help others.

Meredith Parnell

Go to her blog... www.meredithparnell.blogspot.com and look at the pictures of Sky and Ava, my boss's little girls. I LOVE these little girls. They are so precious. I have babysat for them many times and they come into our office during the week and are so sweet. They are just like little princesses! Sky is the older one in the first pic and Ava is in the second.

Shelly was also my roomate in college also - with Rebecca. We had a house on Swift. It was an amazing house. We had acoustic sessions all the time, and shag parties on the deck covered with white lights, and lots and lots of singing. Shelly has a band, and it's pretty wonderful. She praises Jesus with her voice and Mike's guitar. www.shellymoore.com . You should buy her cd. Charlotte South Fellowship Where I hang out, praise Jesus, and learn more about Him.
